The urban environment, characterized by limited space for physical expression, labor routine, and a high level of mediated (digital) communication, creates a deficit that sports on screen partially compensates for. This is a mechanism for virtual satisfaction of archaic needs deeply rooted in evolutionary biology and human psychology.
